Providing Solutions to Move The World
As a leading caster manufacturer, we at Nansin simply believe that the fundamental purpose of a caster is to move heavy loads using little effort. To do this effectively, one must have the right caster for the job. Such factors as the load capacity, durability and starting point should be carefully considered when selecting an appropriate caster
Unfortunately, people tend to select their casters from catalogue which list only the size and material of the caster and wheel. This often result in higher costs in the long term, since performance and durability become compromised, and the caster need to be more frequently replaced, costing both time and money to your operation
Since 1942, we have been dedicated to manufacturing quality casters and wheels. For instance, the breaking point of our caster is approximately 8 to 10 greater than the load capacity listed in our catalogue. Furthermore, all of our casters have passed our standard tests
In choosing Nansin casters and wheels, you will discover how smooth and trouble-free your caster equipment can operate; and you will also be able to reduce costs. Choose Nansin for durability and reliability!
How to Select The Proper Caster & Wheel?
When purchasing casters and wheels for your needs, we believe it’s important to consider their application in order to ensure maximum satisfaction.
How much load will they be bearing?
What surfaces will they be used on?
How frequently will they be used?
These are a few considerations we believe necessary in selecting the right caster and wheel for the right job.
Nansin has striven to perfect the caster and wheel. In our achievements to date, we have developed products that far outperform our competition. For example, our 4-inch caster may be superior to the industry’s 5-inch caster standards produced by most other companies. Similarly, our rubber wheel may be superior to most poly-urethane alternatives.
Please shop around for the caster and wheel that best suit your requirements; but when doing so, be sure to balance your needs with the performance of the product in question. To simply contrast price by comparing size and material alone, may result in higher long-term costs.
Product Information
According to the definition of the liability of manufacturers for their products, which is given in the “Law of Liability of Products”, the following information about wheels casters has to be considered
1.0 Product Information and Determined Use
Wheels and casters, according to this definition, are constructional parts that are generally interchangeable. They are fitted to apparatus, furniture, transport systems or similar products to make them mobile.
This products information refers to castes and wheels, which are used on non-powered equipment at a speed not exceeding walking pace and not being under continuous motion.
Wheel diameter | Speed |
---|---|
Below 75mm | Below 2km/hr |
Above 100mm | Below 4km/hr |
The wheels will give a long and trouble-free life if the following points are adhered to:
- Correct and secure fitting at the design position
- The fixing position must have adequate strength and material for secure fixing
- The function of the caster must not be changed nor affected by the fixing
- The swivel action axle must be vertical at all times
- Fixed casters must have their wheel axles in alignment
- If all swivel casters are used, then they must be common to each other
- If fixed swivel casters are used in conjunction with swivel casters then all casters must be compatible and as recommended by the manufacturer
Where casters are used in areas of:
- Outdoors
- Coastal areas
- Corrosive and or aggressive areas
- Special products have to be specified
For use in temperature below 5C and above 30C the efficiency of the castor can be impaired, particularly the normal load capacity as published can be affected when used in temperatures below / above those stated herein. Special products can be specified.
Component parts are assembled into a complete caster. The manufacturer is only liable for the original component parts making the complete caster.
When selecting a caster it is necessary to consider all aspects of the symbol chart as published.
2.0 Misuse
The word “misuse” can be defined as:
2.1 Overloading *Total Load Weight=1 pce .Load Capacity x 4 x 0.8
2.2 Unsuitable flooring
2.3 Excessive temperatures
2.4 Failure to release brakes
2.5 Exposure to caustic brakes
2.6 Excessive shock loading
2.7 Ingression of foreign object into the wheel treads
2.8 Excessive speed
2.9 Changes made to the components parts and assembled casters not previously agreed with the original manufacturer
3.0 Product Capability
Should the user not find a product clearly described in the manufacturers catalogue, leaflets, descriptive literature etc., then any new caster designed for the particular application has to be fully agreed with the manufacturer. Any new designs effected will be subject to the relevant JISB8920, B8924
4.0 Maintenance
The maintenance of caster is usually:
Regressing the axle and swivel bearings, by the retightening of axle and/or adjustable kingpin, when fitted.
Should any cleaning agents be used, then these same agents should not contain corrosive, or grinding elements.
5.0 Product Information and User Guide
It is necessary to ensure that the Product Information on the following are made available as and when required and that the reseller ensures that the customer is supplied with the necessary catalogues; that the Original Equipment Manufacturer, on who’s equipment the product is fitted, ensures the end user has the Product Information. To ensure proper function of the casters and wheels the reseller must consider the Product Information. This product information can be supplied for issue to the manufacturer of the equipment, The manufacturer of the equipment has to refer to the Product Information, copies of this Product Information can be ordered from the caster manufacturer for distribution to the end user.
